Sandspit Lodge Luxury Bed & Breakfast

View truly is spectacular. One star for that. We stayed in the Super King Room Deckside. The mattress was really uncomfortable and soft, Im guessing its really old. When I enquired about another room with a firmer bed to owner Trish, and told her that my husband was suffering a sore back at the time, she suggested I throw a pillow onto the floor for him and laughed. Be warned that the owners (and guests?) smoke inside so the house smells of smoke. We could smell the smoke in our room too. Not great for non-smokers. The towels are hard and rough. Very unpleasant to use.

The bed was run down a bit and bowed in the sleep area. The main area smells like cigarette smoke all the time. The cigarette smell seeps into the bedrooms. I definitely do not recommend this hotel if you are a non-smoker. The one star is for the view, which was pretty sweet.

Excellent. Beautiful views. Lovely hosts. Good refreshments, breakfast, rooms and whole property is lovely and well appointed. Recommend.

The owner knew that I had booked myself and my 3 children...for a night, and didn't mention that she smokes IN THE HOUSE so, I woke up in the night, smelling cigarette smoke. Just awful. And if I read "full continental breakfast" I'm also expecting a HOT breakfast - right? Nope, that's an extra $20 pp!!! Her home made preserves were delicious however. I also experienced dreadful watery plunger coffee, while the owners indulged in thick luxurious flat whites, obviously made from a proper machine. It may have been luxurious 30 years ago, maybe in the 1980's? It looks nothing as presentable as the pics online, but then again the scenery sells it!!! Freezing cold "mezzanine" room and a downstairs shower and separate toilet. But the worst part was the smoking. In the house...with B&B guests staying. Speechless. Oh and the sheets!!! Horrible synthetic polar fleece!! My son and I nearly died - like sleeping in a (now banned) plastic bag.
