Our experience with Holt Removals did not end well and we would not recommend. They left us in the lurch with an unfinished move, late on a Friday afternoon. They took one truckload to our new address and at that point it was obvious a second trip/load would be required and nothing was said re any issues re this. After unloading the first load at the new house, at 4pm on a Friday, they told us they would not be finishing the job, due to "losing the light". We were gobsmacked as we had to hand over the keys to the new owner that afternoon. Holt said we would have to "wait until Monday". They would have/should have known about the "light" issue earlier but did not communicate this to us until 4pm. With 'all hands on deck', we could have got the remaining items in the truck and finished before the light was lost. They would also not leave until we paid them and whilst this was in the contract, the fact that the job was incomplete and they didn't try to remedy the situation (beyond saying 'wait until Monday') but still wanted full payment was astounding. We had to arrange for another truck to finish the move ourselves (with the help of friends), luckily we managed that, at that time of the day. We emailed the following week expressing our concerns and disappointment, only to be met with 'it wasn't our fault, you misled us re the amount of furniture you had'. This is incorrect. On the initial phone call, we did tell them the number of rooms (3 bed, 2 lounges, dble garage) and that "we have a lot of stuff". They did not do a site visit. Not at any time did they talk to us about any concerns regarding our items. We did ask for a partial refund due to an incomplete job, lack of communication and having to finish the move ourselves. This request was refused. Whilst we acknowledge they did work the hours they did, they also left us high and dry and in a very difficult situation.

My mum hired this company to move her house. She paid them over $1000. They did not move everything and left at 5pm on the day she had to hand over her keys with half a house to move. One of the drivers also made a nasty comment calling her a hoarder - of which she is absolutely not. Reached out to the company for a partial refund as she didnt pay over $1000 to not have her house moved and to be ditched last minute to deal with it all. They have now stopped responding to her emails. Unreliable and disrespectful company.
