Would I recommend Bupa? Not in a million years - their staff do their best (mostly) however the staff are overworked and shifts often only have one staff member to manage an entire floor of residents. Similar to other reviews residents are left in the hospital ward without anyone to care for them and wait hours to be taken to the toilet - HOURS. Residents are told they are bothersome or difficult if they request anything (I am talking about asking for a cup of tea), and are generally treated with a lack of any kind of respect. The Resident managers are superfluous to any need of the facility as far as I can ascertain, numerous discussions with the manager of the facility has resulted in no change to any of the care or treatment of my Mother. Everyone in Bupa facilities only pretend to care about your relatives - when you have left after visiting they are left unattended or just blatantly ignored. This is the shameful state of these facilities.

My Wife was a resident in Northhaven Hospital. Red Beach from 29/2/2012 until she passed away on 30/7/2016. For the first two years the place was fantastic . Plenty of staff. Virtually immediate attention attention when required. And THEN a new facility manager took over. Staff numbers were cut to the legal minimum. My Wife usually had to wait at least 20 minutes if she needed the toilet, at one time it was ONE HOUR. I then told the staff on duty who were chatting and laughing that I would report them to the DHB for neglect to the elderly. I did report it to the facility manager. Nothing changed. The powers that be are obviously happy with her performance,or at least with the Bottom Line (finance). I am writing from experience . In the years that my Wife was there I never miss one day. My visits were not casual as I used to spend a minimum of 6 hours a day with her. She was continually getting UTI s due to sitting in a wet pad for so long . Complaining to BUPA management is like addressing a brick wall. They all want to cover thing up. Would I recommend anybody to go there ? Not a chance. A snowball has more chance in hell. Signed .
