I wrote quite an in-depth review, for some reason google deemed it not appropriate. So have I added it onto another review provider. Its on Oceania biz NZ. Mum paased away 27 January 2023 - Three days after falling from a hoist. Mum was not able to weightbear or mobile at all, she was also Non-Verbal. Ive also had a background in Caregiving. When your using a hoist - it becomes clear early on - if the person is not sitting correctly in the sling before the person is off the hard surface or if your looking at the person in the sling - because they will feel something doesnt feel right and they will be giving facial cues. Also its part of training where you can stop a fall by guiding the person in hoist with your hip - you should be watching the resident right throughout the manoeuvre. We were also advised this is one of their most experienced care partner that made a rookie mistake - causing mums fall.

Our mother has been at EK for a few years and while she has been looked after during 2021 between July and December 15th she had her room changed around a sensor mat, and unique dining room chair which Is part of a set and been in our family for over 50yrs go missing. There is no documentation of any of these events and no one contacted us to say these things had been done. There is a fast turnover of staff perhaps this is why it went un noticed I am still waiting back from EK to hear the result of a incident report I laid on 15th December regarding these incidents. 10 Feb 2023 Our mother had a fall from the hoist and 3 days later passed away while we asked for a copy of her incident form we were only supplied the final report with no in-depth information re what injuries, the there are normally multiple people inputting their assessment. I do not believe Eden principles are being practiced for ALL RESIDENTS

Although some staff here are absolutely wonderful, a lot of staff lack the basic skills & qualities needed to be a caregiver. The ceo thinks she can implement this eden alternative jargon but no one is following these standards. Some residents down in tawa & weka in particular are just so sad. They dont look happy at all. They have set times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and constantly eat the same meals. Theyre constantly drinking juice from a packet (sachet) and if you dont eat when they say, youll miss out. You need to shower and get out of bed when they say, how is this not an institutionalised approach to the well-being of the residents! Theyre consistently changing staff and getting new people in because alot of people cant handle the stress here. Residents are paying so much money for the bare minimum
