Auckland Head & Neck Specialists - Drs Mark Izzard, Rajan Patel, Kevin Smith, Muammar Abu-Serriah and Kim Gear

I was diagnosed Tongue cancer on Jan 2023, and one third of tongue remove with partial glossectomy tongue reconstruction, Mr Kevin Smith was my main surgeon with Mr Rajan for free flap and Muammar for dental implant. All three surgeons were wonderful, even I had some complications, they were fast responsive. I can talk fairy good and eat one month after surgery, still waiting for radiotherapy. The multidisciplinary team is a key here! I am intouch with good dentist, simon brown, Nurse Lou that was so helpful and accessible whenever I have questions! Physiotherapist Clair also so good. I totally recommend the team and surgeons for anyone with similar circumstances.

I feel extremely lucky to be referred to Dr Kim Gear. She is one of most caring doctors I have experienced. She has a whole holistic approach, and discovered I have a condition actually in my stomach (she is an Oral physician). She is so thorough. Referred me onto another specialist. I was blown away a few days ago, by her personally emailing me to see how I was going!

I could only say exceptional and could not more highly recommend.

I had a diagnosis of Salivary Gland Carcinoma and was given the upmost expediency for surgery by the brilliant Dr Muammar Abu-Serriah and team. I underwent a right external Maxillectomy with reconstruction of free fibular flap. It was a big procedure. I could not have asked for a more professional caring team of people,I was kept informed always about what was happening and at no time was left with out information or emphatic care. Dr Muammar is held in high regard at Mercy Ascot and I would not hesitate to recommend him as your surgeon and his experienced team at Auckland Head and Neck Specialists. The team and I became like family, including the excellent Nursing and Dietitian support. I was able to make a rapid recovery which I put down to the wonderful care I have received throughout including follow ups. They may have saved my life, you cant give a better accolade than that,Auckland Head and Neck Specialists are the best !
