I was a patient of Antje Bogartz. She has a nice bedside manner however she diagnosed me with pelvic inflammatory disease without testing for STI's. Proceeded to give me strong antibiotics based on my ultrasound without in fact seeing if there was even an infection. The ultrasound report showed an endometrioma which indicates endometriosis which would explain my horrid pelvic pain and NOT PID. So I was given strong antibiotics for no reason. I hope in future she can gain more knowledge on womens health and endometriosis. And would test for STIs before prescribing strong antibiotics. Update: It very well be the case that PID cannot wait to be treated, but the fact was the PID was brought up in my appointment, and nothing was said about the endometrioma, which is a clear sign of endometriosis. The fact that I had to research this myself after requesting my records for insurance, and ask for a referral to Gynae is why I was disappointed with the care. I was told to ring back if I had continued pain post antibiotics. And of course I had continued pain because I had a giant endometrioma on my ovary which is a sign of severe endometriosis! That endometrioma should have been discussed in my appointment as well as the potential PID and it wasn't even mentioned. If I had not requested my records for insurance I would have never known about it and may still be walking around undiagnosed. In the end I ended up having a diagnostic laproscopy and never had PID at all. It was a misdiagnosis from both the radiologist and GP. I had a haemosalpinx from the endometriosis. I am writing this because I hope that in the future when you come across this in your practice that you recognise this as a clear sign of endometriosis and refer to a specialist immediately and not wait for a patient to complain of continued pelvic pain. 1 in 10 women have this disease you are bound to come across more. Update: I was oddly contacted on LinkedIn by a man with the GP's surname requesting I take down my negative review. Who suggested that I can be sued for defamation.... I was in fact a patient of Antje's from a previous clinic that is now closed and does not have an online presence. I am therefore unable to leave a review of her care for that business. But that clinic will have my medical records on file. As I was in fact a patient of hers ( with records and receipts to prove this), and under her care at one time, this is not defamation nor is it illegal.
