Mexicali Fresh Ponsonby

This place is consistently 6.9/10 "Mexican" food --- you can count on it to be what you order at least. Just get a burrito, ask for 1/2 less rice because their ratios can be pretty off sometimes. It's not great, but it's never bad - and is actually fresh tasting, unlike the horror shows that most "Mexican" restaurants will present you in Auckland.

Restaurant competition on Ponsonby Road is fierce so I'm surprised this place has survived considering their poor customer service. Service is cold and unfriendly - no hello or thank you. Bearing in mind the high price, the portion size is relatively small. The chicken tasted bland. This restaurant really needs to raise its gain if it is to survive. Try Mexico next door for a more authentic flavour.
