What a fantastic team to work with. When you hear so much bad about people's building experiences it was a delight to find such a helpful, responsive and supportive team of people. We used a kitset and built it ourselves. We have not built before so had heaps of questions which they always answered in such a helpful and cheerful way. We purchased a two bedroom package build with Latitude homes for my wife's parents to live in. Overall we are very happy with the process and outcome. The build took approx 6 months, although if you include waiting for building and resource consent the whole process has taken about a year. The home is good quality and well designed. The trades people were skilled and efficient. We were able to make amendments to the original design to suit our needs and could select from a range of products and colours. As with any build, there were a few challenges along the way, however we found Latitude were good about working through issues professionally and promptly. The monthly updates were useful, and the team were always happy to answer any questions and talk through plans in person. They were very accessible and friendly. We would highly recommend working with Mike and Gauri along with the rest of the team at Latitude. Latitude went to extra effort to have the house completed by Christmas which we really appreciated. After researching many housing construction company offerings, we decided to build our home through Latitude, using their shell plus internal supply system as it seemed to us to offer the best value and flexibility in our situation. This meant that Latitude were responsible for all materials and the weathertight shell of the house, but we were then responsible for any subsequent labour, inspections and admin related to the internal products. We lived in the North Auckland region, so were fortunate to meet with and use the skills of Mike Ashton and Gauri Rane. Right from the very beginning we worked together, modifying the plan to suit our particular preferences, identifying relevant budget amounts, holding regular update meetings, and sharing lots of communication. They arranged for regular visits and site inspections even beyond completion of the shell, and provided access to their tradies, guiding the quote process on several occasions where it was outside their brief. Their team saw us through the Covid shortages, mitigating delays and ensuring supply when many other builders simply could not obtain materials at all. On a number of occasions, they even helped with regulatory requirements and schedules which we would have been unaware of, and somehow they sensed when we needed to employ sub-contractors rather than just struggling along on our own. Mike and Gauri have made us feel as if the success of the build was personally important to them, not just us, and that it was not just another business venture. This has become a special business/client relationship and now that the build is virtually complete, we will always appreciate how they and their team went about ensuring its success.
