        I had a great stay at Kiwanis. The best part was that all lodge rooms had a small heater in them so the rooms stayed warm. I cannot comment on the mattresses (other reviews have mentioned these) because I was fortunate to have a spare bed in my room so I "double-mattressed." The communal area by the kitchen was nice to hang out and the kitchen was well-stocked for my group. While there is no beach at the lodge, Whatipu beach is a 10 minute drive. The beach is great with a nice walk to a lookout point. Overall, I had a good time at Kiwanis Lodge.
