Escape Campervan Rentals Auckland

We rented a campervan from Escape instead of Camplify thinking that an international campervan company would likely have a better maintained vehicle and be easier to work with if any issues were to arise. Unfortunately, we ended up with a very quirky, beat up old van from Escape. Our experience was matter of fact and no frills but also full of minor inconveniences. The van ran fine and was decently comfortable but had 250k km on it, splashy suspension, the driver's side window would not roll down, the windshield leaked water into the vehicle in two places and the windshield wipers were bent so one wiper didn't contact the windshield at all. When we called to let them know, they said we could purchase new windshield wipers but we knew that would not resolve the problem. When we provided feedback at the end, we were told that they do not drive the vehicles so they wouldn't have known about it but that it passed their mechanical inspection. The staff were nice enough and the van got us through the trip but overall felt our money would have gone further with another company.

We rented a van from escape for 3 weeks, driving and camping was very comfortable. The team is great, you always get quick and friendly support (the first van was exchanged without any problems because the indicator light on the back door didn't work). Returning was also quick and uncomplicated, we can highly recommended it booking an escape camper van.

I and my gilfriend rent a van from this company for about 2 months. We have been entirely satisfied by the van and all accesories provided with it. We thought the arrangement inside perfectly set to make the journey as confortable as possible. Two times, after heavy rain during the night, we were afraid to stay stuck in the mud but the motor/tyres manage to move us out with ease. We drove through Arthurs pass without any issue too, despite the very steep road. For laughing, we named the van the tank because of its heavy noise after starting the motor but also to emphasize its capacity to handle difficult situations (mud, steep and unsealed road,). Regarding the staff, they were always smiling and helpful in our questions. In conclusion, we truly recommend this company if you want to visit NZ in a van.

Renting a van from Escape was the perfect choice for us. Everything from making the booking to picking up the van to the actual vanlife experience was a breeze and a complete success! We rented a van for 69 days, and it had everything we needed for our vanlife adventure (comfortable bed, small kitchen with cutlery, dishes and utensils, portable toilet, a convertable interior, etc.). Driving the van was very easy, though being an old model it was a bit slow/heavy uphill, however it did not matter to us due to the winding roads of New Zealand making the driving slow anyways. Insurance wise we chose the C tier (highly recommended). During our travels, a window got a crack and we had it fixed. The communication with Escape about the incidence went smoothly, and we got it fixed at a local place without issues. For camping and finding places to park for the night, we chose to go with non-powered sites, and it worked wonders. In summary, we would recommend choosing Escape anytime!
