I want to say a big thanks to the team at WRT for the work they are doing. Over the last year our Bokashi bins have worked a treat. Our compost hasn't been so successful but it was really good to attend the recent free composting workshop. The facilitator was only too happy to engage with me on a bit of a troubleshooting mission and thanks to zoom I was able to take her around our property virtually to look at the compost bin. It turns out it's best to soak your browns first before putting them in the compost bins which I had somehow missed. That's probably why mine was always too dry to compost properly. We're now rescuing 100% of our food waste from landfill with the bokashi and mixing that with our garden waste in the compost bin to spread around the garden. Before alert level 4 stopped the plastic film and bag drop off at countdown, I'd say we were recycling almost all our recyclables as well. It feels great to be minimising our footprint. We're loving it. That is at least in part thanks to the team at Waiheke Resources Trust and The Compost Collective. Thank you all for the amazing support and advice you've given us.
