        It takes about 2 hours to walk with children from Upper Mangatawhiri car park. The hut is clean with 4 bunks and a covered outdoor verandah, two water tanks that collect water from the roof. There is a log book and a broom for cleaning up. It's really neat and tidy.

        Basic campsite in a clearing. Old hut with two bunks. Bring your tent. No fancy view, but lots of birds. Small grass area next to hut fits a few tents. Water either rainwater (via roof hut) or small stream close to campsite.
