Schischka Campground

It was very boggy for our early October visit, which meant we had to park on the gravel. But the facilities were great, the gate process worked seamlessly, and the location is just gorgeous. We would love to return at a drier time of the year!

Only way to get inside here is to get a gate code online using Auckland councils website which is pretty bad and quite a bit of bureaucracy especially the first time setting up an account. Also look for the gate code In an attachment; they won't tell you to look for the code the email. For some reason in New Zealand, campsites have something against including a picnic table and this place is no exception. It's also close to a main highway so you'll get some of that noise although it's not that bad. And like a lot of campsites in New Zealand it's basically just a grass field. Flush toilets no showers. No bother calling the number listed on the sign to make a reservation they're useless.
