The entrance to the park is off South Head Road and has plenty of parking. There's a park bench, a drop toilet, and an information board showing the track/walk to the beach.
The walk is a 3 hour round trip at an easy pace. If you can, carry some water with you - you won't regret it.
We took the main path (straight ahead of the carpark) to the beach which winded its way through farm paddocks of sheep and cows. The path was grassy and easy but not flat. Its mostly down hill.
Once we got to the beach, the tide was quite far out. There were lots of black swans at the waters edge but we didn't venture that far as the sand wasn't that firm and we didn't want to get our shoes wet.
We walked back via the northern horse/walking track. This was nicer than the farm track as it was mostly level, and there were large interesting trees which provided shade and a place to have a short rest, and a pond with some frogs happily croaking away. The track itself was open and easy going. The last few hundred meters got steeper as you made your way back up to the carpark.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the walk and plan to go back sometime when the tides in.
