Camped there and explored the Awhitu Peninsula Feb 22. Dinner at golf club, swim in bay, walks and friendly locals. Secrets of NZ. If you like Maccas and Shopping Malls and traffic, dont go there!

The Council signboard introduced the place, that the original settlers John and Sarah Brook and their five children moved into the property in 1875 and built this main homestead in 1880. This is constructed of local kauri. Inside of the house now is not open just can be viewed from outside through the windows. House is situated in a large piece of farmland now the Awhitu Regional Park with cattle and sheep you can still see arounds. Brooks Beach just 3mins walk down from the homestead is beautiful.
