I recently received treatment at the Anxiety New Zealand clinic at St. Luke's and I can't say enough good things about my experience. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and I felt at ease as soon as I walked in. They even made me my favorite tea. My clinician was knowledgeable and professional, and I could tell that she truly cared about my wellbeing. The treatment plan she developed for me was tailored to my specific needs, and I found it to be very effective. Overall, I would highly recommend the Anxiety New Zealand clinic at St. Luke's to anyone who is struggling with anxiety or other mental health issues. The staff there truly go above and beyond to provide the best possible care to their clients, and I am so grateful for the help and support they provided me.

Really disappointing experience. I contacted them to try to get an appointment for my partner, who was going through a really tough time. We called first, and the person was quite patronising, with the kind of "good luck getting an appointment, we'll seee what we can do" attitude. We filled out a form for an appointment. My partner was really needing help, and thought this was the best place to go for help. We were so wrong and it was a massive mistake to try them first. 2 weeks later - and no communication as to when there would be an appointment. I contacted them... and was told the wait time was another 4 - 5 weeks. Why wouldn't they tell us that in the beginning?! We would have looked elsewhere. By the time someone finally got in touch - weeks later - it was too late. As an organisation dealing with people who are struggling with mental health, they are really failing with some basic communication steps that would help alleviate suffering. Surely it's 101 that they realise the people contacting them actually NEED support, and they at least need to know when they might get some help - not silence.

For the past 10 months I have volunteered on the ANZT helpline. As someone who is innately nervous and abit shy, applying here was a new challenge. The training was thorough and interesting, allowing plenty of chances for extra support and to socialise. Not only has this line opened my eyes to different people's life experience, but also the importance of helplines for mental health. I have learnt about the various ways anxiety presents itself, how I can help others (and myself) cope with anxiety and to respect the efforts made by volunteers and phone counsellors across NZ. It can be a heavy job, but ANZT works hard to ensure we volunteers have great support to provide NZ with our line 24/7. It is a truly empowering and enjoyable line to work for and I encourage anyone who is interested to volunteer here. Just know that you will be joining an amazing community if you do.
