On the 10 March 2021 my wife Slavica and I received news that would change our world forever. Slavica was diagnosed with Brain Stem Cancer and it was untreatable........what do you do when you receive such news? Tears yes, lots of and soul searching, why us, what did we do, what is/how is this going to mean/happen. The Aroha team were recommended by the Dove Hospice team at St Andrews and on the evening of 1 April 2021 they arrived to collect my beautiful wife who had passed earlier that evening. The next morning a great friend of Slavica's and I arrived at their premises on the Ellerslie Panmure Highway to dress and prepare for placing in Casket. Paper work was done effortlessly and Janet and the team were wonderful every step of the way. Due to Covid restrictions and various other hoops jumped through, Slavica's funeral service was held at the Purewa Cemetery and Crematorium. Aroha Funerals did a wonderful job coordinated with Purewa and looked after all aspects of the funeral for me and left me to deal with my grief, my family and our friends and work colleagues who showed up escorting them into the service, preparation of the flowers and after the service sorting the recovery of flowers on the day and Urn the next day after the Crematorium had completed their part. From first contact to now (yes I still keep in contact), they have been instrumental in relieving the pressures of such a process at a time when you least need to have any problems. Slavica was/is Macedonian and documents had to be sent home for her family to process with authorities there for land and banking issues and Janet has had to produce the same documents for me 2-3 times now as only originals are accepted in Macedonia and without issue. Overall a 5 Star service from initial contact , good communication at all times and so very caring and professional all the way. Absolutely recommend Janet and the Team at Aroha for your Funeral requirements. To Janet and the ladies, I embark in August to get her home to Macedonia and wish to again thank you for the wonderful experience.

I am a Funeral Celebrant and work for and with Aroha regularly. I absolutely love their approach, their warmth and honest caring. All the Staff at Aroha are consummate professionals. I throughly enjoy working with them as I know they families are going to be looked after and cared for as they should during difficult times. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone who wishes to be treated with respect, dignity and utter warmth.

An INCREDIBLE experience from a fabulous caring team at Aroha Funerals. The opportunity to keep my dear father at home for 3 days (with no embalming) was extraordinary. So private, peaceful and not invasive in any way. To have located the coffin we wanted and then go out of your way to collect it on a Sunday was beyond appreciated. My family will readily use Aroha Funeral services again. A BIG heartfelt thank you to the team at Aroha from the LEE family x

Janet and the team at Aroha Funerals provided a very caring, professional and personalised service for the funerals of both my parents. They were always available, nothing was a problem, helped with all aspects of the organisation and planning and were always courteous and sensitive. I could not recommend them more highly.

As a funeral celebrant I work with several companies and therefore have a deep insight into the qualities of each one. The women at Aroha are utterly devoted to caring for their client families with respect and warmth, guiding them through what can be the worst time their lives. They have a natural approach to death, and are always happy to help families who want a service that's a little different from the traditional style. They are knowledgable and respectful of the many cultures in our communities, and the different approaches to death and burial/cremation practices. For them it's all about gentility, integrity and heartfelt attention to detail. They are like a family, and treat their deceased people as though they were their own loved ones. A grieving family couldn't ask for any more than that. Janet and her team live up to their name...Aroha.
