This is the HO of Visionwest. Come here to collect my PPE. Always on the lookout for caring, helpful people to assist older citizens to be able to stay in their own homes. Free training, so join up and start working up to collect badges to level 4. Great service

The following review highlighted some long-term concerns. I'm very happy to say these were addressed promptly and during the latest Level 4 lockdown, VW sent a support worker to carry out "contactless care" - and shop for essentials. As I had been 10 days without fresh food or support I very much appreciated this. Thank you Vision West :-) ************************************************ This is a free service (to the clients) of support with home and personal care. Most clients are elderly, disabled or both and have been assessed by health professionals as needing esential support, short term or permanently. . I wish I could give more than one star as this is a wonderful service, or would be if the agency was run efficiently. Unfortuntately, it's not and I feel very sorry for the poor support workers who have to bear the brunt of client anger, when they are sent out at the wrong times or to an elderly client who was expecting their regular worker but opens the door to a stranger. From the long-term client point of view it is equally distressing to be kept in the dark when VWest changes your worker's times, or the worker herself, but doesn't bother to let you know. I have raised these issues repeatedly with VW, sometimes because the support worker has been upset and abused by a client but dare not complain. One worker, arriving at 3pm when the client had expected support at 12:30, had a bucket of water thrown at her. And yet the answer is simple: let the client know, every time, if you change the times, or the worker. One phone call is all it takes. It's a mark of respect to both support worker and client. I'm not sure how much training support workers get but so many who come to me have no idea how to make a bed or peel & prepare vegetables. It could be so much better with a little care. A government-funded agency should have more accountability than this when working with an extremely vulnerable sector of our communty.
