What an interesting experience today !!! In this intertidal zone, you can dig out cockles, and the number you can carry on is capped at 50. Before starting your journey, please check the tides first, and I suggest you arrive here around two hours before the sea level reaches its lowest point.

Cockles digging. 50 cockles per person is allowed. It was busy on the day we visited. The weather was perfect. Bring your bucket, gloves, and gumboots. We didn't mind to go with our barefoot. The cockles were small maybe it was the end of the season. But it was fun. The kid loved cockles picking. We saw other families cooking the cockles on site with their BBQ which was more fun.

Just love taking my dog out to this beach - theres plenty of room for them to run around and being up on the grass is a plus as you dont have all that sand in the car - theres a bush walk you can take them on which is great - so peaceful listening to all the sounds of the birds - nature is so free and right on your doorstep- Okoromai Bay is a lovely place to visit its nice and clean well looked after -
