        Hut getting a bit worn (leaky/noisy in bad weather), but still very usable. Mattresses (4) still intact, watertank good\full but small, small range of tools/equip inside. Long drop toilet in good condition. Great views of Tauranga/BOP area. The track up to the hut has some very difficult sections - ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED OUTDOORS PEOPLE (as per new warning sign - May 22). Some sections (now mainly at S-E/hut end of trk...) are heavily overgrown with ferns/grasses, and other sections your climbing up rocky outcrops and tree roots to follow the track, etc. A major slip across the track occurred in ?mid 2022 (trk closed by DOC). Overall its a 'hearty' walk in.
