(Translated by Google) I had seen Michael's craft/workmanship online over the early months of 2022 and followed his postings of his new works. I grew to love the spirit in how he fashioned and designed a piece of wood into a living art form. In September this year, I commissioned Michael to make me a Tewhatewha that would become part of my collection. In November, my Whnau uplifted the art piece from Michael in Ngongotaha and brought it over to Sydney with them. As part of our attack in my powhiri to my 60th birthday, my nephew carried it in doing his waerea as his wife did the karanga. As the night progressed the bros did a salutation haka to me. As the army approached me doing the haka 'ka mate', I faced them off and grabbed the Tewhatewha as part of my response to the tu taua! That's when I placed my authority on the Investigation. When the ope finished the haka, they came to hongi me and as my long-standing mate approached me to hongi, I did a mihi to him at the same time of the hongi and gifted him the Tewhatewha- he was overwhelmed, shocked and speechless ! The wood became an art form, that turned into taonga that will no doubt be displayed in my humble mate's house - him being of Murupara made it very special knowing that it was inspired, crafted, designed and created by a Tohunga of Ngongotaha! So, Mr. Mike Thanks again for the amazing work, my friend. Best wishes to you and your family, my friend. Long live With love for your work of the stone world! Michael did a custom piece for my new whare, the first one for my whanau from my direct lineage to protect us and welcome us, and he was just incredible. He was easy to work with, always contactable, took everything i asked for on, and he even took the time to translate into text the koorero behind the piece when it arrived - and this was all during peak covid aswell as between countries with only technology to keep us in touch (i am based in Sydney). A truly magnificent outcome and I cant wait to work with him for my next piece.

Michael Matchitt carved a beautiful box to complement laying my step mother to rest in such short time, amazing, absolute beautiful work and even complemented both of my step mum's tribes tuhoi and nga puhi. Thank you from all us here in Auckland for the hard work in such short time Michael you truly did us proud. Your koreko and keeping us up to date with the process was also very comforting again I couldn't thank you enough. Definitely a 5+ star rating and will absolutely be talking about you for years to come. I can't stress enough how your work brings love into carving. I hope everyone comes to you. Thank you so so so much
