If you ever wondered what it would be like to go to Japan and eat in a local restaurant, wonder no more. I lived in Japan for 25 years and can tell you that this restaurant seems to have been picked up off a Tokyo (mid-market) street and plonked onto a Rotorua street. The interior, atmosphere, Japanese chefs and staff (we only heard Japanese being spoken) food tastes and presentation are identical to anything you would expect in Japan. The price is reasonable too. Kid-friendliness: They had a little bowl and utensils ready before we sat down.

Very popular place, great food for good value. Definitely recommend the Steak-don. Vegetarian options: There is a separate menu for vegetarians
