The build company that we commenced building our home with, CDL (2018) Ltd, used Aotea Electric as their electrical contractor. Due to non-performance issues we cut the contract with CDL and did not use all of their subcontractors (including Aotea) as we found some were trying to claw back old debt from CDL by clipping the ticket on our quotes. A week and a half out from Xmas we found that Aotea had requested the removal of our temporary power supply when our new builder contacted us. This was a nominal cost that is paid at the outset of a build and in our situation was a debt owed by CDL. Our new sparky said that although he could arrange a new temporary supply there was no way this could happen before the new year and therefore we would have missed a planned council inspection date. Therefore we paid the nominal cost plus large administration fee to Aotea to keep the current supply. The company that actually put in the supply said this was the first time they had encountered this. Although the money amounts involved weren't large - Aotea's actions added to an already stressed family facing a large financial loss because of CDLs actions - which Aotea were aware of. I would not recommend this company because of this.

Not sure about the quality of their work -however friends recently had a similar experience as described below and with the same building company! Aotea made them pay the building company's debts before they would complete the work. And this is a semi retired couple. No shame.
