Izakai Bar & Eatery

The food here is great and my go-to was always the pork belly ramen, but now that youve removed the miso egg the dish is just not the same and Im gutted. I asked why it wasnt included anymore and that was because of an egg shortage. Eggs can still be easily sourced so why not just put your price up slightly?

Firstly, the restaurant was able to accommodate a reservation change at quite short notice on a Saturday evening, which we appreciated. The staff were efficient and polite. The food was top-notch, particularly the sashimi/ceviche dish and the lamb ribs, which were perfectly cooked. The potatoes seemed a little out of place on the menu and within the meal but otherwise we considered it a beautifully curated menu. We definitely over-ordered but were able to take our leftovers with us and will definitely be back!

Had a great experience dining here after a day tour and we were famished! The food was delicious, service was quick and friendly. We inhaled all the food in minutes! Would definitely come back and highly recommend!

As a chef for 25 years and traveled around NZ from the north to the south of both islands, finding local eateries trying to do my best to support them and this is one of my new favorite places to eat. The best food photo is of an empty plate, so here you are. I had to try the Karaage ramen (crispy chicken, noodle soup). Flavors were on point with lightly salty pork broth with the right amount of spice, chicken was amazing, noodles... cooked right! I could go on and on, but if you're a local or not, I suggest you try Izakai Bar and Eatery! Best meal I've had under $30 and NO SURCHARGES OVER EASTER
