It's a bit out of the way and most people wouldn't make the trip for what seems to be such a short walk. But if you've never heard a Kokako in the wild, or at all, come early morning and you can tick that off your bucket list. Walk itself is very nice, gently down to start and then a quick drop down to the stream at the end. Track has been rerouted around the slip just turn left when you get to the stream. Native birds to be heard and seen, explore the stream (very slippery) and kick back for a snack or a picnic while soaking in sounds of nature and nothing else. Thanks to locals who maintain and trap, this small track is a genuine hidden treasure. Room for one car near track start, or use the parking area next to the information panels a little bit before you get to the track and walk the remainder along the road.
