They were friendly and easy to deal with but car was filthy with plenty of minor body damage, not what you expect when hiring a car. Car was handling badly so I pulled into service station to check tyre pressure and all four tyres were extremely low with only having 8PSI, not only is this extremely dangerous but it made me concerned on the maintenance of the vehicle. Definitely not what I expected hiring a luxury BMW convertible.

Loved my day out in the Mercedes convertible - fabulous service and a great option for cruise ship passengers visiting Akaroa. Highly recommend!

Although a small company, customer service was outstanding. And the BMW convertible I rented was awesome!

The Noordam ship tenders couldnt land at Akaroa because of the swell. When advised, Amber-rose of Outclass, cancelled our booking and refunded our payment within 10 minutes. She had been courteous and efficient throughout. Unfortunately we missed the pleasure of driving a BMW Cabriolet through the hills of Akaroa.

Beware: This company does not have an actual car rental office in Akaroa, as the Google posting indicates. Instead, they have an agent that "tries" to meet you on the main dock as you are departing a cruise ship. However, if you ask Information on the pier about this company they may tell you it's a kilometer away next to a gas station. But it's not. They may also tell you that there are no car rental companies in Akaroa. They likely will NOT tell you they could have a sidewalk sign at the pier. Apparently, if you can find them, a representative for Outclass will take you from the pier to some place where you can fill out forms and obtain your car. But that person may not be at the dock and you'll need to wait for them by a small sign, if you can find it. We wasted about two hours looking for their Google location (that doesn't exist) and making unsuccessful efforts to call them. We didn't receive an email from Outclass saying they'd be at the pier. When we did find their small sign on the pier, no one was there. "Outclass" is mentioned in smaller letters on the bottom of their sign that's difficult to see. The sign also has a phone number different than what's on Google. Our cruise only gave us several hours at this port and we spent considerable time beforehand making plans to visit places around Christchurch. Unable to obtain a car from Outclass in over 2 hours after we departed from our ship, we needed to cancel our plans for a place we'll probably never have a chance to visit again. Needless to say, we were very upset. The only redeeming part of our disappointment with Outclass, which made me give them two stars rather than one, is that when we finally were able to speak to someone with Outclass, they did refund our payment in a timely manner. Nevertheless, until this company has major problems they resolve, be forewarned.
