Nov 2019 I was apprehensive about the place as many reviews didnt recommend the place. However I thought lets try as I wanted to taste the cray fish. For entree we had the salmon sashimi. Expensive for 19$. The serving was v small but taste wise was good. Cray fish was expensive for 88$. But certainly worth it. That said I had cray fish for the first time in nz. Once again cold poach has me worrying however I think if u r open to trying new things then certainly not a problem. Taste was good and it was satisfying. Partner had pan fried cod which was good too but the smashed potato base didnt work. Probably need to change to something else. There was caviar and that was nice, although menu didnt mention where it was from. 37$ For dessert we had meringue with ice cream n berries. 15 or 18$ not sure but very filling n v shared it. Coffee was good. Over all taste is good but 150$ for 2 ppl without any drinks.. food is expensive in nz.. Id recommend once if ur pocket allows. - Visited again in July 2021. Its under new Management I think. The old menu is completely gone and replaced with a new pub / bar type of menu. We came for cray fish and didnt find that so it was slightly disappointing. However the food is average now for the price. Plain fish and chips for 28$ is expensive. And this was nothing special about it. Just served as in bars. Compared to previously when I visited in NOv food was certainly plated much more aesthetically. Akaroa salmon 33$ . Ok Ordered salmon pizza got chicken pizza. The server was very apologetic and offered the salmon pizza for free (full points for that) 28$ . However both pizzas were ok. Also had plain cheese pizza which was. 27$ not really sure why that was so expensive. Tuna 35$ which was probably ok. Overall 171$ for 3 adults n 2 kids Overall food value is now 1/5 to be honest. Taste wise 2/5. Recommend other places ..
