STAND have been helping us with our son for just over a year. Their service in every area has been exemplary. The level of services that they have been able to offer our boy has been lifesaving. The services that STAND offer are similar to Oranga Tamariki with one major difference. STAND understand children, they work with the whole family, they are highly skilled Social Workers, they have empathy, they are friendly, they treat everyone with respect, they don't cheat, lie or steal and they put families first. In fact, they are the complete opposite to Oranga Tamariki. If STAND had the funding that Oranga Tamariki had, there would be no reason for a Child Welfare Organisation to feel the need to apologise when they get caught out 3 or 4 times a week because when you are in it for the good of who you are trying to help instead of yourself, there's no need to worry about being caught for ruining yet another family's lives. Oranga Tamariki's funding should go to a real Org like STAND and OT and it's underkilled, non parent, overpaid workers can be labourers.

Feeling really let down. My 8 yo son was ment to start attending. I had made the team aware of my concerns and they agreed none of those concerns would be an issue.. fast forward to the end of about 4 months on the waitlist to find out that actually my son can no longer attend because my concerns are exactly how they do things out there. Now I have a very upset 8 yr old who was very excited, but cannot attend anymore. Poor communication from day one in my opinion. Not a happy mama over here.
