As a client, the disappointment I had dealing with Curtis Architecture is their lack of accountability for basic rookie design mistakes (one example being the smaller incorrect door sizings throughout the house, which Casey admitted was not the standard default size used in houses. When asked why it was allowed to happen, she was not able to give us a reason why it was and went on to blame us for not picking up their mistake when we signed off the design plans) The other frustration was their total disregard for deadlines that they agreed to when they took on the project. The drawings took 9 months to complete, even though they agreed when they took on the project that it would be delivered in 5 months. We did not hold the process up as we signed off on each stages within a couple of days. They have a process that splits the project up in to stages, and you are told there is 3 weeks between stages. Due to the under resourcing in the company sometimes these stages would stretch out to 6 or 8 weeks. There was no communication during the process that our deadlines would be missed nor were there any attempts to make up time delays. The delay in the build added at least 10% to our build. They did work well with us to accommodate design changes by the engineer and they were reasonably priced. But they let themselves down by their lack of transparency and accountability. After a promising start, I could not help but feel disappointed by their overall performance in the end. I will not be using Curtis Architecture again.
