We stayed the night in the Snowline Lodge to be able to get an early start the next morning. The accommodation was quite nice since we did end up getting the room to ourselves. It came with dinner, breakfast and lunch and the food was quite nice. I did notice there were more younger children here. There are cubbyholes in the day lodge where you can put your luggage, which was very handy after checkout. There is a cafe inside the day lodge and the ticket office is right outside. They do accept chill pass clips. There are two T bars which take you up the mountain. Interestingly, you are able to load on the main T bar from halfway up, which was useful when the bottom run was getting rocky. The snow is quite nice and the skiing area was very wide. The top lift takes you to the edge of the resort and there were quite a few people going down the Mt Cheeseman side to do backcountry riding. They looked like they were all prepared with beacons and other backcountry gear. Heading the other way takes you to Mt Cockayne, which you are able to walk up. It was quite hard going down the face of Mt Cockayne though since it was quite lumpy. The on-piste areas were really nice, particularly at the top of the main T bar. The snow was fun to ride and it was fairly relaxed. There were areas which were a bit harder but it was nice having a fairly easy day but still having fun riding down.

Amazing atmosphere and vibe from staff and visitors alike make Mt Cheeseman a special place. Skifield itself is simple and straightforward, and it allows easy access to some of NZs best backcountry terrain which is suitable for all levels of touring. Stayed at Snowline Lodge and refreshing to have an authentic NZ lodge experience with everything you need. The food was great and we happened to be there during Cheesefest 22' and easily the largest cheese platter I've seen! Thanks to all the staff.
