        Cross between a luxury hotel and comfy alpine lodge. Room had large picture window fronting Mount Cook and large bed with warm comforter. Modern and well-appointed bathrooms. The public spaces include not only a bar and restaurant, but a museum (Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center) and a planetarium. Activities include boating an a glacier lake (where you can scoop up mini-icebergs) or heli-ski or nightine stargazing. We only regret we stayed for one night. This is a great place to relax for a long weekend or a full week.
