Affordable Caravans

Bought a caravan awning a bit last minute in lead up to xmas. The person I spoke to there on the phone said it 'should' be ok on our caravan. When we went in to get it there were signs indicating that there was a restocking fee of $250 for awnings, suggesting that they did accept returns. We tried it over christmas vacation and it was not at all a good fit for our caravan. They refused our request to return it. We were told that the restocking fee applied to awnings that had been purchased but not used at all! We were very disappointed to then find that the awning we paid $1200 for at Affordable Caravans was available at another Christchurch outlet for $900 (regular price) so we were unable to sell it for anything close to what we paid for it, in spite of it being in near new condition. Don't make our mistakes and shop around!

I would recommend when anyone buys a second hand caravan to bring a ladder to look at the roof especially by the skylight. The caravan I purchased about two years ago at this business had obviously fixed a leak by applying a coat of sealant on top of a preexisting one, resulting in major leakage about two years later, very disappointing to find a job not done properly. When contacting Affordable caravans they very politely let you know that the warranty has expired and theyre too busy to fix it... I choose to buy my caravan via a business and not privately thinking I could trust them and it meant some kind of safety; finding out now it wasnt the best choice I made. A business obviously interested to import and fix faulty caravans cheaply. Just talked to another of your customers who had exactly the same experience, luckily for him the leak by the skylight appeared within the warranty period and the caravan was returned
