I loved my escape van! I spent two months in this van and I had no issues! The bed is so confortable and so spacious. The van is basic but you have everything you need. The painting makes it interesting and you can recognize the people that you have met along your journey. The company is really professional and its easy to reach them. I definitely recommend this company

Renting our van at Escape rentals was easy and comfortable. The van itself didn't have too many kilometers done (91k) and everything worked like it should. Definitely recommend to rent at Escape.

I recently rented a camper van from this company and I must say that I had an absolutely fantastic experience. The van was very fluid to drive and spacious enough for me to move around freely. The bed was cozy and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that everything was included. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating, and made the rental process very easy for me. Overall, I highly recommend this company for anyone looking to rent a camper van for their next adventure.

We hired a van for a week for two people to travel around the Lakes district and in Fiordland. This was our first campervan experience, so we dont have much to compare it to, but it was generally enjoyable. Pros: Pots, pans, and cutlery are all included as well as a serviceable, easily used portable stove and two canisters of fuel. A cooking prep area is built into the back of the van, and there is some purpose-built storage back there for the various items included in the hire. Bedding was clean, and the bed setup was easy to do every night. There are curtains on all the windows and you can pretty much have full privacy with everything snapped in place. The artwork is pretty cool and usually well done, and though I wasnt given a choice of van, I liked the art on the van we were given. I overheard a young NZer compliment the art at one point in Wanaka. The vans do stick out though, if that isnt your thing. Im tall, 63, and there was plenty of room for me to stretch out. My gf and I both slept well on the included mattresses (probably about 3 thick or a little more). Cons There is not a lot of storage under the bed, which is where passengers normally need to stash their gear. We had brought sleeping bags and our own camping pillows, so we stored several of the included items that we didnt think wed have a use for: both comforters and all the pillows, chairs, and a picnic table (the last two usually not included). Also the heater and light. We never used the included extension cord as our only power requirement was charging our phones, and that we did with a car charger. The audio equipment is not state of the art: you may wish to bring CDs or MP3 usb drives, because our radio would not work with iPhone or Android phones or iPods. There is an aux port for phones that still support it (not the fault of Escape, of course). One thing that caused me a lot of anxiety in terms of the cost was the petrol/gas prices combined with how fast the van ate through fuel. We pretty much fueled up whenever we had a chance, and NZ gas prices are currently $6.14usd/gal, so that felt like an unforeseen expense. The suspension is pretty bumpy, and you feel every imperfection in the road. Not an issue for us, but something to consider if you plan on driving on unsealed/dirt roads. Im tall 63 and I had to adjust the seatbelts constantly due to it not tensioning properly. My girlfriend had no such issues. In the end, we stayed at a lot of holiday parks, and didnt use many of the self contained features or campgrounds, so I probably wouldnt use a campervan again, but I would recommend Escape for someone looking to do a few frills and utilitarian trip.
