This school teaches you absolutely nothing. The merge was completely and utterly an idiotic idea. I am neurodivergent and I was given absolutely no help with my dyslexia, the classes are 100+ students and they straight up forgot to teach us about puberty in my last year so when I went to my next primary, I was severely far behind. Do NOT send your kids here. The only good thing was the kapa haka program when I attended that dreaded school.

I doubt that this is the best place to discuss such a matter but if it could help an undecided family here goes. It is really hard to gauge how poor this school is compared to other schools. It is the local school that was combined with other schools and was brand new after the earthquakes. Well, our children have been used in a terrible experiment. We have had our two kids through this school and have been shocked at the lax standards and general lack of teaching. This school cares more about Maori culture than about teaching the basics. I say this as this is the one area where they push their agenda on to the kids. A real push for Maori culture in all areas of the school. There are massive class sizes of 100 kids plus Zero maths Zero writing but plenty of talk about feelings. An example of the weak teaching for me is how covid has brought the classroom home. Having a look at what my kids are learning was shocking. I would be ok if they at least work towards mediocrity but they can't even do that. One Example. To learn about the Gallipoli campaign they were given a video about a teddy bear that was found by a solder on his way to war? I asked my kids did they know anything about the war the WHAT WHO WHEN WHY They had no idea. I ended up showing them the Mel Gibson movie as well as books and documentaries. They had zero teaching from school. Zero follow up to see if the students understand the subject. The teaching consists of here is a video go self learn. Teaching starts at home and you would think that the school would be there to help you with this but you would be wrong. I don't know if this is the general level of schools around NZ but If you have an option don't send your children to this school.
