I was recommended this place and put my husband there for respite care. Last Saturday when my husband returned from his dialysis he was given 4 toasts for dinner with nothing else. Did all residents at this place had toasts for dinner? Again today, my husband returned from dialysis and was given 4 sausages for dinner with nothing else. No vegetables or anything else. This is very disappointing. We put our love ones to be looked after while we are away and this is what they get.

Our father was in Brunner for approx 18mnths. During this time dad seemed content tho he did not enjoy the level of noise with several residents continually verbalizing loadly a good portion of the day. Any concerns we had with dad were handled well by nurse management. Carers made an effort to interact with dad and this kept his spirits up. During dad's passing staff could not have been more helpful and caring towards us his family. We appreciated this immensely. While no care home is perfect, we found Brunner wing a safe, attentive facility with staff who really seemed to care.

I had been given the choice of 2 hospital level care rest homes from the ChCh Hospital staff for my father and I chose Radius purely on reviews (my mistake). I often found my father placed next to a window.. but facing the wall, not the garden. He was often underdressed and when I touched him, he would be cold. I would often ask if he was hungry and asked staff for food so I could feed him myself. My father would also need his glasses to see, and not once when I went to visit my father, he had them on. I'm also still waiting to hear back from their admin staff after enquiring into why I've been issued a bill for over $1500, when the hospital said my two choices of rest homes provided the same level of care. (the other rest home has no fee on top of government subsidy). No reply. I started the process of transferring him to the other rest home, but unfortunately my father passed during the waiting period in which I receive another letter with the bill once again. Get in touch with Nurse Maude or ANY other provider, the decision of choosing this rest home for dementia care is something I regret and have to live with, don't let this happen to you and your family.
