Good place for photos and phenomenal views of port levy and surrounding areas. You can see Port Levy road. Excellent place for panoramic pictures and good area to hike to. The sheep add character to the area and make interesting photos. I enjoyed this hike.

Mount Herbert is the largest mountain onBanks Peninsula with a height of 919 metre above sea level. On this track, there is a slightly smaller mountain, coined Little Mount Herbert at 913 metres. From this summit, there are stunning views of Lyttleton Harbour, where you can also overlook it the city of Christchurch, Lake Ellesmere and the Canterbury Plains. On a clear day, you can view the Kaikoura Peninsula from the top of the summit. The track is closed forlambing seasonfrom 1 August to end October. It is a scenic walk over farm land, where sheep wander the paddocks.
