Built in 1863 from locally-milled timber (you can still see the pit-saw marks on the weatherboards), this charming little church, located in Pleasant Valley near Geraldine, is South Canterbury's oldest church still in use. Set on a terrace overlooking the Pleasant Valley Road, the church is framed by a tiny white gate and mature trees. A chuckling stream runs along the front edge of the churchyard. The tiny graveyard behind the church tells the story of the local families who settled the Pleasant Valley area and, indeed, the church is still surrounded by quiet, tranquil bucolic farmland.

Well worth a visit - close to Geraldine & Pleasant Valley hall - a wealth of history, beautiful historic church still in use.
