This is a very beautiful beach and off the grid. There's a couple of camp sites that are reasonably priced. Just so tranquil and quiet a great place to unwind and recharge. The beach is calm most days, so not a surf beach but great for swimming and kayaking as you can go out to the island.

Seems some people getting this place mixed up with Cooks Cove - a walk in Tologa Bay. As for this place of Cooks Landing in Anaura Bay, the bicentennial plaque in a concrete block was a bit disappointing. A better statue or information boards would be quite good. Better to see all this in Gisborne.

A private spot but Anarua Bay, very close by, has a DOC site for the public use. A journey to get there but definitely worth it!
