Avis Car Rental Napier Airport

Hi There: We had rented an Avis Rental Car in Auckland for a month to tour all of New Zealand. As "luck" would have it, we were in Napier when Cyclone Gabrielle hit and so we were "marooned" for about 4 days with no power, no hot water, no phones, no food and no gas for our rental car. We also could not leave Napier as all connecting bridges and roads were washed out. We had a huge Jacuzzi tub in our motel room - which we could not use as there was NO hot water. The fact that everyone we encountered during that time in Napier were incredibly helpful and patient made this wee venture one of the very highlights of our month's touring in New Zealand - and when comparing that to all those incredible New Zealand sights - it shows just how BLESSED we were to spend that time in Napier stranded by Cyclone Gabrielle. And, the highlight of those memories must surely go to the incredible Staff of Avis Rental Car - Napier Airport Office - especially Maggie and Liam. They were angels - even though Maggie had to spend the whole day and night at the airport as she could not get home because of washed out bridges. So what did this remarkable staff do to receive a MINIMUM 5 Star Rating. Firstly, Liam and Maggie said we did not have to "top up the tank" (since no gas was available in Napier at that time) and so we could just drop the rental car at their office - this even though we had it booked for a full month and contracted to return it to Auckland before we flew out to Honolulu. Secondly, since our phones had no power, Liam took the time to call a very busy Air New Zealand and book us on flights out of Napier and down to Christchurch - this so we could avoid all the washed out roads and the suspended Inter-Island Ferry services. Maggie and Liam then organized a replacement Avis Rental Car for us in Christchurch that we could use for the rest of our month's travels around New Zealand. All of these extra efforts were services offered to us in the most wonderful spirit and manner possible - at a time when everyone should have been "Stressed to the Max." Their extra services were quite exceptional - and they would accept no "gratuities" for all of those outstanding services they offered us. We travel quite a lot and I can assure Avis we will use your rental cars at every opportunity in an effort to somehow repay that truly magnificent service provided by your Avis Staff under very trying conditions - and especially those efforts of both Maggie and Liam. Ruth and I are eternal grateful for your help in turning what should have been the very low-point of our New Zealand visit into a fabulous lesson on how great New Zealand people are in times of stress and calamity. + Friendly people + Clear info on the available options + No push to upgrade or buy anything extra - There is the option to drop the key when they're not open. Except the building they're in will also be closed at that time, so you can't actually drop the key.

Was going to Uber to North Shore for a medical appointment. Booked a car in Napier yesterday instead, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Avis they upgraded us to a Land Cruiser, Nice. Did the sums based on the app on Uber vs Avis and it worked out to be as cost effective but more importantly it offered Greater flexibility for a few stops etc. Cheers

No ferrari rolls royas and buggati available.... Only cheap cars are given to ride. Atleast give mercedes s class or above veraions.
