During a time of floods, this proved to be a place of refuge.physical emotional and spiritual support. Although we have been prepared years in advance for disaster with go bags etc, it was knowing our elders (Kaumatua) knew us well enough our numbers our plan of escape, where we'd go to emergency contact etc. If no communication access we knew who and where to go to to let them know we were safe. Have a definite plan and let people know b4 a disaster. Now organised for the clean up. All accounted for and temporary housed by those unaffected.
