What a bloody nice, comfy place to stay. We arrived late at around 8:30pm which was no issue with the owner. Bed was great, heat pump worked a treat. Good parking, heaps of room. Close to town, walking distance from take-out. The only thing that makes the 4 star rating is the shower in our room had been repaired. The repairer had use cheap silicone and hadnt cleaned the area causing a great deal of mould to grow on the repaired seam, a bit yuk. Also chap next door was somewhat of a chain smoker, the stench kept drift inside our room even with doors and windows shut. Why smoking out front of rooms is still allowed I have to idea.

When arriving at the unit there was a strong smell of cooking fried food. The smell was right through the unit into both bedrooms. Next we found the stove top had not been cleaned for some time with bits of old and fresh food spilt around it. I requested the reception to arrange for it to be cleaned. In addtion to the flithy cook top the toilet and basin didn't appear to be cleaned for some time. I asked the the women who came to clean the cook top about cleaning the toilet. I was advised this was due to the hard water calcium disposit. If this was correct every toilet in Whanganui would have brown stains in the bowl. The furniture and carpet was stained. The beds and the bedding were clean. I did raise the numerous issues with reception and was offered a small discount. I still would not recommend this motel. And would never stay at the motel again while under the current management.
