We chose Te Awa for our 25th wedding anniversary. We got to grapple with life's serious question 'Can you enjoy glamping when the spring rains are bountiful and ceaseless?' The answer is an unqualified 'Oh yes, absolutely.' Te Awa hits that sweet spot between the decadent and the spiritual. One detail will suffice; the bath on the deck faces the river below, (which was quite a torrent) and leads your eyes up a fence line to a house on the top of the hill across the river. Simple, sublime and impossible to avoid some kind of reflectiveness. But you are also in a great big claw foot bath with a book and a beer, good cheese, and the birds with the rain teasing your feet. Oh yeah!

The most incredible spot, tucked away from roads and any neighbours. We were so so so happy with our stay and the ammenities, they left us with all the bits we could need to have a wonderful brekky and even roast marshmallows over the fire. There's even a treasure hunt at the tent that makes the whole experience even more fun :) Thank you so much for putting such care into your beautiful accomodation experience

Absolutely amazing! We've done a lot of glamping and this site is one of our favourites. It's right on the river which was fantastic for swimming in on a hot day, there are also a few kayakers and jet-boaters which were fun to watch. The snacks and food provided were delicious - and plentiful! There are also a lot of little extra touches that really made this stay great. Highly recommend!

Te Awa Glamping is truly an oasis of calm and relaxation nestled in the hills of Taumarunui. Our two days hidden away on the banks of the Whanganui Awa were exactly what we needed to recharge away from the hub-bub of the world, disconnect from screens and reconnect with each other. This is a perfect spot to unwind, watch the sky, river and birds & is a great base to take time to explore the many beautiful sights and experiences of Taumarunui. Lou is an amazing host with beautiful attention to detail and she absolutely nailed our tricky dietary requirements. A real treat! Thanks again Lou and Tom! We wish we could have stayed longer!
