I met the lovely and friendly Cherry who is the ponamu (nz greenstone) carver.
She will give you the background story on the piece that calls to you.
She also follows the proper customs and protocols (kaupapa) whilst designing and creating and working with the ponamu.
I had a wonderful korero (chat) and experience while there with her and would recommend this gallery to purchase a taonga (special gift) rather than a commercial knock off shop that doesn't follow the kaupapa and is just in it for the money.
Cherry loves her art and it shows in her pieces.
