Great little bird hide perfect size for a few birders However the hide is a little damaged but still good for viewing birds

This area is worth the long drive from the main highway. The mudflats are interesting. Lots of birds in the right season. There is a campground. There is a lovely playground and a quaint bike/ scooter mini road area. It has stop signs & intersections. In the trees along Holston Rd are miniature wooden painted fairy doors. Also a lovely mural about a migratory bird. The Kiwi Guardians medal post is slightly west.

Viewing platform is nothing flash but great views of the tidal estuary and godwits at Foxton Beach. Plus it comes attached with a skate park, playground, tennis courts and picnic area. Great place to keep the kids occupied for an afternoon.

This platform comes in the shape of a small hut situated on the mud flats edge within the small forest next to the Top 10 Holiday Park. It can be easily reached by driving past the Holiday Park (follow the tall wooden paling fence) approx 100 metres until the sealed road ends, parking in the flat area (out of the way of other cars wanting to keep driving to get on to the estuary/beach itself) and following the walking path that runs along the forest edge along the estuary. Platform is approx 50m up the path. Unfortunately the hut has not been well maintained and look very shabby and run down with holes in the roof and it reed cladding pretty much all fallen off.
