We stepped into this tiny gem close to the 3pm closing time, and the host Tony was so hospitable that he still gave us a guided tour. He shared a wealth of information and the demonstrations on the restored equipment were great. We learned a lot and appreciate all the hard work that has contributed to the museum. We highly recommend a visit! Thank you, Tony, and to those that upkeep this wee treasure.

Its very unexpected. It looks small but the tour took 30+ minutes. The machine demonstrations were great and the host was very knowledgeable. Its also the place that made the rope for lord of the rings. If youre into that kind of stuff then also look out for the part that was featured in the hobbit. One thing to bare in mind is that its a very post industrialisation euro-centric look at flax in New Zealand. If you want to know about it from a strictly Mori perspective this might not be the flax museum for you.

Great little museum with lots of local information. Arrive at 1pm and youll get the full tour explaining the history of the flax industry in Foxton- the flax capital of NZ! It was great to see the working machinery.
