The road leading up to Raukawa Falls is a sealed road. It takes but longer to drive up from Tongariro Crossing but worth the stop to witness this waterfall. There is parking available on the left if you are coming from the South. The waterfall is visible from the car park. There is a narrow path from the viewing deck down the hill. We tried hiking down but it was a bit slippery and muddy. Some trees and shrubs need trimming because it is blocking our view of the waterfall. You do not have to pay for this viewing.

Not much to see here... private property restricts further access to the waterfall. Rubbish lines the edges of the bush surrounding the river.

Definitely worth a stop for a view. There is a safe car park area and a viewing deck that gives good views of the falls. My memories of these falls from decades ago makes me less impressed now, as then, the volume of water was greater, and the width of the water used to make them a spectacular sight. However a major collapse of the rock face has altered things considerably. But it's interesting to see nature at work, and it's still a nice stop for a look, a coffee, and a slice of bacon and egg pie.
