By far the best beach in Whanganui region. It was a bit off track but once you get there the views are amazing with the small falls and the beach itself. The sunset was spectacular as well. Will definitely come back.

Love this beach. Little more excluded, rich geological history staring at you from the cliffs. Great raised view of the ocean and coast (drive to spot) and access directly to the beach (for the reasonably sure footed only).

I think I loved this beach so much because it was secluded, quiet and devoid of people. This beach is located down a gravel road, which thankfully puts the masses off going to it. Those who are adventurous and not put off by a gravel road are rewarded with such an amazing location. Long drop toilets are found at the car park, inside converted concrete water tanks. Suggest taking your own TP with you. Ample parking, and freedom camping appears to be allowed here. A short walk down a well used path takes you past the waterfall, about halfway down, before you arrive at this amazing beach. There are no lifeguards here, so I would be careful swimming, make sure you have people with you. There are lovely naturally formed pools at each end by the rocks that are relatively safe for wallowing. At the north end of the beach you can find a spring of cold fresh water bubbling out of the sand. At low tide you can walk around the rocks at the north end of the beach to yet another secluded oasis only accessible by boat or low tide rock walk. Highly worth the drive out to this beach.

Beautiful little spot. Beach access is a steep short walk but the waterfall is half way down. Worth the drive on the unsealed road but that's what makes places like this special.
