Great communication and appreciated the flexibility to slot us into a group the day before setting off. Had a great time with our guide Rick, who was really helpful with gear and advising how to take some of the more slippery downhill parts. We had great weather so he kept a steady but laissez-faire hold on our group, letting us progress at our own pace and making sure we all reached the finish line in a reasonable time.

(Translated by Google) I did the alpine Tongariro crossing with them at night with a view of the sunrise from the top of the volcano. Marvelous. Very good guides, highly recommended! (Original) Ho fatto con loro l'alpine Tongariro crossing in notturna con vista dell'alba dalla cima del vulcano. Meraviglioso. Guide bravissime , consigliatissimo!

We called up Adventure Outdoors the day before we departed and Sarah Cate managed to put us in with a group departing the next day (22 Oct) after a little chat about our fitness level and gear. Our guide was Rick, who picked us up from the Park N Ride in a shuttle van which had gear in the back (hi-tec boots and walking poles etc.) if you needed them. We were very lucky as the weather was fantastic and in fact didnt need much warm gear as the day went on, just a shirt and good windbreaker! Rick was very patient and knowledgeable about the volcanoes and their history, and also let us set our pace more or less. He also helped us through the tough spots - all the while hefting a huge backpack probably carrying emergency supplies! With the good weather a guide may not have been necessary but we greatly appreciated that Rick was around to provide information and knowledge and a sense of assurance that we would be well taken care of should anything untoward happen.
