What a great place to hire equipment!! The hutt is so fun, with lots of interesting things for the kids to see and look at. Felt like we were in a ski lodge with the way it's set up and a pot belly stove going to keep the space toastie warm. The team were fun and friendly, and their eye for detail was spot on. The elder of the team was great with our kids, funny and made the arduous process of trying on clothes great for the kids. The two younger of the team were pleasant and great at sizing up our needs by eye, and spot on. My husband was impressed with the younger guys eye for getting his boot and ski correct, and he was also really great with keeping my two boys on task of getting sized up. The gear was really great; it was raining when we went up to Whakapapa and not much snow in the lower slopes. Our two boys were warm even through they were wet through.... but that wasn't the gears fault they were wet!! The jackets and pants covered their bodies perfectly, the boots were the right size. Helmet and goggles fitted great (though because of the rain the goggles were surplus) and the gloves were nice and thick. The skis and poles were great quality. Even though the gear is obviously well used, everything was in great condition. Clearly they look after the gear. Price was good too, perfectly acceptable for the 4 of us. They have an online option to hire which is potentially cheaper? But we were happy to be able to go in store and be advised as to what we needed. Now we know what we need we'd probably try the online option. We paid for 2x days hire, but won't go up the second day, so will look to return everything and get our second day refunded.
