Great family ski club. With lodges at both Whakapapa and in the Alpine Village just past the big carrot. Membership is a requirement as these guys are an incorporated society. However, contact the booking officer to try out if you don't know anyone. The club has about 500 members and there is usually someone that will kindky help you out and point you in the right direction. The club has many activities throughout the winter months Whakapapa is a ski in ski out lodge sitting at 1670 meters ASL. Interclub racing is plentiful with great prizes and after parties. There are kids weeks, school race weeks, adult weeks, all lots of smiles and piles of fun. The club provides a custodian whom is the resident winter cook. The club members and guests support with a few jobs to help out. This is an amazing opportunity for young families to get into snow sports. There is lots to learn and do. It's a great place for mum and dad to see there kids develop as they will pick up many skills simply from playing and exploring around the lodges. The outdoors is a great place to explore here. If you are into summer activities, mountain biking, climbing, tramping, walking, paragliding, trout fishing, white water rafting, kayaking, hydrothermal hot pooling, simply wanting some time out. Then this place is a great base to operate from. There are lots of activities at your finger tips here to enjoy. There are some amazing nature and waterfall walks. Don't forget smash palace down the road to travel back in time with the automobile!! National park has some great 4x4 adventures and horse riding. With some neat Cafes like Evan's. You can get a group of mates together and book the place out, or come as a couple. It's well worth doing this area and you will have many happy memories to take away.

Ngauruhoe Ski Club is an incorporated society for its members. The club has around 500 active winter members and has been in operation since 1964, in the winter months as a ski in and ski out lodge. It is situated within a 5 minute walk to the south of the top over-night carpark on the Bruce Road. Whakapapa Ski field has around 48 clubs like this. However, Ngauruhoe is in a great location and has arguably the better facilities on offer for ski in ski out accommodation. Many of the original founders or their next generation are still active within the membership. The club has had a rich history even burning down in 1987. Many members are very accomplished sporting people within there respective sporting interests. So there is usually lots of advice on offer at the club over a communial meal. The club has been built on family relationships and values with a strong race development for the juniors. Many of these juniors move on to ski instructors, representatives of New Zealand ski racing, ski patrolling or other ski related industries. The Whakapapa lodge accommodates 32 guests. In the winter month the club provides a custodian chef and the members support the daily operations with duties and helping out where required. The club is well suited for groups or schools and outdoors groups throughout the year to a maximum of 32 people. The accommodation is rooms of 4 bunks, 2 bunks, and a family or group room of 8. The sleeping area is away from the living areas, and the flow is good for catching up with friends or meeting new faces, simply reading a book and watching the kids playing in the snow outside. There are always lots of smiles to be had and lots of fun. Hightly recommend a look for your next family adventure.
